Instructions for Authors

Below you will find all useful documents to assist you in preparing the section you have kindly accepted to write for the upcoming ERS educational handbook in respiratory medicine.

Table of Contents: this document contains a complete table of contents, with a detailedbreakdown of chapters and sections as well as all HERMES syllabus links.

Generic instructions: All articles must be submitted in a specified Word format, provided in the templates below. This document explains how to complete the Word template and gives instructions on how to shape your article.

CME questions instructions: All articles must be submitted together with 3-4 CME questions, which will be made available on the ERS website for self-assessment purposes. This brief document explains how to draft questions compatible with the question format used for the European examination in adult respiratory medicine.

Upload instructions: All articles will be uploaded on the ScholarOne platform, which is also used for ERJ article submission. This document explains how to upload your article once ready.

Sample Chapter: This document shows how a finished chapter should look like.

Timeline: This document shows a timeline of all different steps leading to the publication of the book in time for the 2010 ERS Congress in Barcelona.

Word Template for Word 2007 (Windows only): This template must be used for Word 2007 from Windows only. It has been sent to you separately by email.

Word Template for all other versions of Word (Windows and Mac): This template must be used for all other versions of Word (Word 2003 Windows, Word 2003 and 2008 Mac). It has been sent to you separately by email.
