Background
Our main objective is to reach a broad consensus over the recommendations for a European Core Syllabus and Curriculum that will be produced. Different consensus techniques have thus been studied. After a thorough examination of several techniques, it was decided to use a modified Delphi process in order to develop a Core Syllabus.
The Delphi process is defined as a formalised group process aimed at generating consensus, using written responses and without direct interaction. It has been modified to such an extent that all participants will meet once to exchange ideas and opinions.
This process will allow a large number of participants to be surveyed. Also, a feeling of ownership over the outcome will be fostered, which is essential for integration of the study output into practice.
For more information regarding consensus techniques, access our summary report as well as documents produced by other professional societies.
