Following on from the other successful HERMES projects, the Respiratory Critical Care educational task force was officially launched in September 2009. The projects overall aim is to harmonise training in Critical Care Respiratory Medicine (CCRM) throughout Europe. The key tasks that the taskforce have completed to date are to identify relevant European Critical Care experts, otherwise referred to as the ‘National Respondents'. Further developments on the first project phase are detailed below.

NATIONAL RESPONDENTS
One to three national respondents have been selected from European countries. The respondents are experts in the field of education, training and accreditation matters.
Project PHASE 1: Development of a consensus based European Core syllabus
After the Task Force drafted an initial syllabus, this draft formed the basis of the first Delphi survey round forward to a number of experts in respiratory Critical Care medicine.
The analysis report of this survey higlights key findings and assists in the formulation of the 2nd Delphi Round. Results of Delphi 1
